Head of Product Development - Travel Tech ref: J332

Job Description: 

Rare opportunity for a Head of Product Manager to join one of the travel tech major tech supplier. This established Travel Tech company is looking for a Product Lead to be responsible for creating and implementing product roadmap to support the strategy and goals driven by client’s needs around the globe.

Main responsibilities: 

  • Being a product visionary and evangelist to drive the future of products and commercial success.
  • Creating a vision for new product developments, and gaining buy-in from the Senior Management Team with clearly articulated business cases and achievable return on investment opportunities
  • Developing and implementing a company-wide plan to launch new products, working with all departments to deliver.
  • Specifying requirements for current and future products. Working with customers and internal teams to define and refine product requirements.
  • Managing existing products, increasing profitability and ensuring predicted ROI is realised
  • Representing at relevant trade and industry events, providing Thought Leadership in travel communications and demonstrating the value of products
  • Providing demos of new product features to customers to maximise their engagement and aid the sales process
  • Maintaining industry and product knowledge, and keeping up to date with market
  • Managing the entire product line life cycle (concept to phasing out) from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Creating and leading a high performing team of product managers capable of delivering the product roadmap including:
  • Employing effective people management skills to engage, motivate and drive excellent individual and team performance.
  • Identifying skill gaps and arranging suitable learning and development opportunities for team members
  • Fostering collaboration and communication amongst team members and creating an atmosphere where all team members can fulfil their potential
  • Planning, assigning and directing workloads of product managers

 

Ideal profile:

  • Background as Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager, including line management experience
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
  • Travel industry background including experience of Reservation Systems / GDS (at least one of Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre or Navitaire)
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills aligned to audience needs
  • Experience of working with international clients
  • Experience of a SaaS type environment
  • Experience of working with a commercial software company including working with
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Strong leadership and scope negotiation skills.
  • Strong facilitation and mediation skills
