Lead Cloud Architect - Permanent – London

3 different positions at different levels

Our client is a true market leader in providing leading software solutions to corporates and is looking for a Lead Cloud Architect to join their growing team from their prime London offices.


  • As the Lead Cloud Architect the successful candidate will be joining the global Cloud Services team of IT professionals in a senior capacity, supporting their customers around the world in their use of cloud based ERP and business management systems.
  • This role will suit an ambitious experienced Consultant who desires a career move into a senior management position or an experienced senior Consultant with a desire to lead up a growing line of business for a fast moving global company.
  • This position calls for an experienced, technically strong Infrastructure/Platform as a service Consultant with wide ranging Cloud infrastructure competencies.
  • The successful candidate will have experience of working with secure IT systems, have strong, organizational skills and be a good communicator, be confident under pressure, and be able to demonstrate expertise in both Network and IT Infrastructure Design and Deployment. 
  • Critical to this role is the need for an acute understanding of Business processes and commercial awareness during negotiations with manufacturers and service providers.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • As the Lead Cloud Architect, the successful candidate will be leading a dedicated Cloud Services team that focuses on building and maintaining robust EPR solutions for a global and ever increasing customer base.
  • The primary focus of the team is to ensure the upmost reliability, security and maintenance of their Global Cloud platform.
  • Will be leading a global team of Infrastructure Consultants whose foremost responsibility is to ensure system level uptime of the Cloud platform to safeguard that customer SLAs is met.
  • My client is looking for someone who is experienced, passionate about technology and has the drive and courage to define and articulate a great solution utilising the current cloud infrastructure services technology.
  • Will be responsible for helping to design, architect and implement new capabilities that address any gaps and provide an integrated end to end scalable, enterprise-class service.
  • This position is also primarily responsible for providing technical guidance regarding performance, scalability, security, design, and implementation of cloud services.
  • Will also need to lead the development of tools and documentation to enable the Support team resolve customer issues with the hosted infrastructure service.
  • Will work in close collaboration with the Support and Consulting services teams; and will report via the Technical Manager to the Board.
  • The successful candidate will also work as part of a pre-sales team in the proposal stage helping to produce proposals and estimates and subsequently engage in the delivery of the customer cloud infrastructure as a service project covering the design and implementation phases of the project before handing over to support and maintenance teams.
  • The successful candidate will report directly to the Global Technical Manager and to the CIO.
  • The position is based from the London Headquarters office with standard working hours from 09:00 – 17:30 UK time. However flexible hours will be required based on global service and support requirements.

Preferred Experience & Qualities:

  • Highly proficient and hands on experience with Datacenter / Infrastructure, Networking, Storage, and Security, IaaS, PaaS & SaaS Cloud technologies, specifically AWS, Azure or other platforms like Google, Oracle etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in design, engineering and virtualization in the cloud environment including: virtual machine deployment and management, cloud orchestration, service instantiation and assurance and cloud analytics.
  • Demonstrable management experience within support and service roles. Particularly within fast paced, customer service driven environments.
  • This candidate has experience in designing both technology and security architecture for cloud applications and services.
  • Have extensive knowledge and expertise of security  and enterprise architecture
  • Knowledge of ITIL (ITIL accreditation would be an advantage).
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001(experience of working in an ISO 27001 environment will be an advantage).
  • Experience with strategic consulting/extremely comfortable managing client relationships and project expectations
  • Microsoft / Amazon, network and security certifications are a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to take full ownership of issues.
  • The ability to create and implement structure and introduce strong business processes where and when necessary.
  • Work closely with the Network Security Officer (NSO) to ensure appropriate ISO 27001:2013 compliance is maintained around data access and availability within the support estate.
  • Monitor use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information in computer files within the support estate along with system performance.
  • Implement documented processes to include review of customer system monitors, backup jobs, successful and unsuccessful job completion and uptime statistics.
  • Review data storage (customer) and platform usage to minimise data and resource (VM) redundancy. Ensuring that the keeping of customer data is maintained at ISO standards.
  • Stay up to date with industry standard technologies required for platform delivery such as Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft System Centre Security ensuring a continued dialogue with peers and management to share relevant updates.

The successful candidate must be able to display strong competencies and understanding in the following areas.

  • Microsoft Operating Systems – Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R1 and 2012R2. Practical knowledge of client operating systems (Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10).
  • Microsoft Windows Core (non GUI).
  • Microsoft PowerShell.
  • Microsoft Active Directory administration.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V (2012 R2 preferable).
  • Microsoft System Centre 2012 R2 (for Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) and Application Controller).
  • Microsoft Windows Server High Availability Clustering.
  • SAN Management (EqualLogic and Compellant would be highly beneficial) plus CSV provisioning.
  • Citrix XenApp 7.5 (and above) administration and deployment.
  • NetScaler VPX support & deployment
  • Knowledge and working practice of deploying ERP type applications

 Desirable but not essential

  • Microsoft SQL Server installation and basic administration (2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2014).
  • Microsoft Terminal Services and Remote App delivery administration and deployment skills (Windows Server 2008R2 and 2012 R2).
  • SUSE (or similar LINUX Operating System).
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (current) Qualification.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation.
  • Technical degree; Computer Science or Math background
