Director of Travel Suppliers – B2B Travel ref: J448

Job Description: 

A fantastic opportunity to step in to a real steppingstone position with a leading travel agency reporting to a board member. As a Director of Travel Suppliers you will shape and execute a value proposition around air, rail, ground transportation and ancillaries’ that drives recognisable market differentiation that benefits end travel customers, the business and partners.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop effective listening strategies both internally and externally to create a clearly articulated market place specialist air, rail, ground transportation and ancillaries proposition that is attractive and highly relevant to target markets, implementing financial models that reflect value generated.
  • Own and maintain a relevant travel proposition roadmap, ensuring effective communication both internally and externally to ensure clear understanding of both its value and delivery dates for planning purposes.
  • Define outcomes that will deliver recognisable value and differential that underpin a “specialist” position in the market place.
  • Define and shape the travel proposition for target markets which a) underpin the specialist proposition, b) deliver optimum efficiency and c) maximise income opportunities) allows us to connect at many customer and partner levels
  • Ensure new products and services are commercially viable, relevant and competitive in the marketplace, with income and cost models clearly documented and shared with appropriate teams.
  • Ensure appropriate alignment of the travel proposition in commercial proposals and the customer contracting process.
  • Lead and communicate the strategic plan for the travel proposition, ensuring effective documentation of market perceptions, risks, return on investment, delivery timeframes and reputational impact
  • Collaborate with relevant SME’s and project teams to ensure effective and timely delivery of the proposition.
  • Maintain up to date distribution channel maps for each product, reflecting key suppliers and trends in the distribution landscape

Required background and expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of Air, from a Product, or Travel-Tech Distribution background.
  • Market place knowledge – key and principal supply chains in the corporate travel sector
  • Experience of working as part of a senior management team
  • Intermediate Microsoft office experience
  • Desired – Working knowledge of key dynamics and drivers within the business travel, meetings and events market place
  • Desired – Knowledge of technology, distribution applicable to the meetings and travel sector
  • Desired – Understanding of the business travel distribution and competitive/ market landscape
